[Resolve - Sel. of Newcastle]

Resolve on the petition of the Selectmen of Newcastle, was read twice & passed to be engrossed in concurrence with the Senate.

[Resolve - Jona McKenney]

Resolve in favor of Jonathan McKenney, came from the Senate indefinitely postponed for concurrence & the House concurred.

[Compensation to Sheriffs]

The order of 14th inst appointing Messrs Spring of Saco, Winter & McClure with such as the Senate may join a committee to consider whether any alteration is necessary in the law fixing the compensation of Sheriffs, came from the Senate nonconcurred - The House referred the subject to the foregoing committee.

[Bill - inspec. of Beef &c]

Bill additional respecting the inspection of Beef, Pork & Lard & for other purposes - was read a 1st & 2d time & this afternoon at 3 oclock assigned for a 3d reading

[Report - personal property assigned to Maine]

The committee to whom was referred so much of the Governors Message as relates to personal property assigned by Massachusetts to Maine - reported a Resolve - report read & accepted.

[Resolves - collection of demands assigned to Maine.]

Resolve providing for the collection of demands assigned by Massachusetts to Maine & instituting an enquiry respecting the Bonds given for the performance of settling duties remaining in Massachusetts - was read & passed to be engrossed in concurrence with the Senate.

[Report - James Walker]

The committee on the petition of James Walker & others of Greenwood reported that the subject be referred to the next Legislature - was read & accepted in concurrence with the Senate

[Bill - regulating prisons]

Bill additional to an act for providing & regulating prisons - came from the Senate, passage refused. The House refused to concur the
