The committee to whom was referred the petition from the Society of Shakers &c reported leave for a Bill - reported accepted

[Bill - grants for pious purposes]

Bill additional to an act for the better securing & rendering more effectual, grants & donations for pious & charitable purposes - was read 1st & 2d time & tomorrow at 10 oclock assigned for a 3d reading.

Report on the petition of China Academy, granting leave to withdraw came from the Senate accepted for concurrence - and the House nonconcurred & recommitted the report - Sent up for concurrence.

[Report - lands for support of schools -]

The committee to consider the expediency of appropriating a portion of public lands belonging to this State for the purpose of aiding in the support of schools in those towns, which have not received benefit therefrom, reported that it is inexpedient to pass any law upon that subject. The report accepted in Senate came down for concurrence - and the House non concurred - Sent up.
