8.01--State Racing Commission. Created by PL. 1935, c. 130 § 1. Name changed to State Harness Racing Commission by P.L. 1951, c. 266, § 95.

Duties--make rules and regulations for holding, conducting, and operating all harness races or meets for public exhibition in the State and for operation of races tracts on which any such race is held.

Members--3 appointed by Governor with advice and consent of the Council; interest in horse racing if possible, but not in any racing or sale of pari mutuel pools - P.L. 1935, c. 130, § 1. 1 shall be connected with agricultural societies which operate pari mutuel racing - P.L. 1953, c. 402. Mot more than 2 shall be from same political party - P.L. 1955, c. 114.
