P.L. 1869, c. 70, § 33.

Duties--consider and report to the next Legislature on the subject of restoring sea-fish to Maine's lakes, the introduction of new varieties of fresh water fish, and the protection of fish in inland waters.

Members--2 appointed by the Governor with advice and consent of the Council.

12.15--Commissioners of Fisheries. Created by P.L/ 1869, c. 70, § 3. Name changed to Commissioners of Inland Fisheries and Game by P.L. 1899, c. 42, § 32. Abolished by P.L. 1917, c. 244, § 2. Duties assumed by Commissioner of Inland Fisheries and Game.

Duties--examine dams and all obstructions existing in all rivers and streams and determine the necessity of fishways, and the location, form, and capacity thereof; introduce and disseminate valuable species of food fish into the inland waters of the State, and valuable food birds into the State examine workings of the inland fish and game laws, see that all violations thereof are duly prosecuted, and perform all other duties prescribed by law.
