On this fourth day of March 1820 Personally appearing Before me William Crosby on of the judges of the Eastern circuit court of Common pleas including the county of Hancock Washington and Penobscot being a court of record by the laws of said state, with power of fine and imprisonment Ben Ladd aged 64 years, resident in Belmont in said county of Hancock who being first duly sworn according to law doth on this oath declare that he served in the revolutionary war as follows, to wit: one year as a private in Capt Isaac Shermans [rest illegible due to poor image quality]
of all which I made declaration before the Honorable Judge Crosby on the fourth day of April, 1818, and have my Pension Certificate and I do solemnly swear, that I was a resident citizen in the United States on the eighteenth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighteen, and that I have not since that time, by gift, sale, or in any manner whatever, disposed of my property, or any part thereof, with intent thereby so to diminish it as to bring myself within the provisions of an act of Congress, entitled " An Act to provide for certain persons engaged in the land and naval service of the United States in the Revolutionary War," passed on this eighteenth day of March one thousand eight hundred and eighteen, and that I have not, nor has any person in trust for me, any properly or securities, contracts or debts, due to me ; nor have I any income, other than what is contained in the scheduled hererto annexed, and by me subscribed.
