of that office agreeably to the Constitution, whenever it may be convenient for him to attend for that purpose; Reported, that they had attended to the service assigned them, and the Governor was pleased to say, "that under a due sense of the kindness of his fellow Citizens manifested in this renewed expression of their confidence, he accepts the office to which they have again called him; and that he will forthwith meet the two branches of the Legislature in Convention, and in their presence will take and subscribe the oaths required by the Constitution.

A message was then sent to the House proposing a Convention of the two Houses forthwith in the Representative's Chamber for the purpose of qualifying the Governor.

A message was then received from the House concurring in the foregoing proposition.

[Convention]

A Convention of the two Houses was then formed in the Representatives' Chamber for the purpose aforesaid, when Albion K. Parris Esq. Governor elect, attended by the Council, Secretary, Treasurer and Sheriff of Cumberland, came in and took and subscribed the oaths required by the Constitution to qualify him to enter upon the duties of his Office, in presence of both branches of the Legislature, and proclamation thereof was then and there duly made by the Secretary of State. The Convention then separated.
