Samuel Emory of Biddeford, appeared, presented his credentials was qualified and took his seat.

The Committee on contested Elections made a report on the case of Charles Jarvis which was read and accepted.

A Resolve relating to the right of Charley Jarvis to a seat in this House, was laid on the table by Mr Washburn of Livermore and the question upon the passage thereof was taken by yeas and nays and decided in the negative as follows Yeas 60. Nays 105.

Remonstrance of Cyrus Weston and 14. others against the right of John Chandler to hold a seat in this House was read and referred to the Committee on contested elections.

Agreeably to assignment the two branches met in convention in the Representatives Chamber for the purpose of choosing seven Councillors to advise the Governor in the Executive part of the Government for the present year and also for the choice of a Secretary of State - Messrs. Ingalls, Seammeui [?] & Davee of the Senate and Messrs Steele of Brownfield, Clifford of Newfield, Folsom of Eastport, Mason of Orono and Gerrish of Portland of the House were appointed to a Committee to recived sort and count the votes for Councillors who having attended to the duty assigned them reported, that the whole number of votes given in was one hundred and ninety one, necessary to constitute a choice ninety five, Nathaniel Clark has one hundred and twenty nine, Allen H.
