Tuesday February 17th 1835

Met according to adjournment.

The Secretary of State in compliance with the order of the House of Representatives of the 10th inst laid before the House "An abstract of the Inspectors Returns of Fish" made to his office for the year 1834 and on motion of Mr. Sabine of Eastport, 600 copies were ordered to be printed for the use of the members.

A communication was received from the Secretary of State transmitting a list of the last Returns of the Selectmen of towns &c of scholars in such towns &c and the same was referred in concurrence with the Senate to the committee who have under consideration the distribution of the Bank tax.

Petition of Jacob Drummond & others for an act regulating the driving of Logs in Kenduskeag Stream was read & referred to the Committee on Turnpikes, Bridges & Canals. Sent up for concurrence.

Resolve in favor of Samuel G. Bodfish, was taken up on motion indefinitely postponed - and the question was taken by yeas and nays and decided as follows Yeas 132 Nays 44 [see appendix page 367]

A message was received from the Senate informing the House that the Senate had elected Benjamin Burgess Major General of the 4th Division of the Militia of this State in concurrence with the Senate.

The House resumed the consideration of the Resolve for making a road from Weeks Mill in Brighton to Moose Head Lake, the question being on the amendment moved by Mr. Holmes of Alfred yesterday.
