232 Remonstrance of Sally G Ellwell and 157 others, females of Waldoboro against the sale of Ardent spirits, was read and referred to the committee who have the same under consideration. Sent up for concurrence.

Petition of Samuel S Paine for leave to change his name was read and referred to the committee on change of names.

Bill to repeal an act entitled an act to prevent frauds in the inspection of fish, was read a third time and indefinitely postponed. Sent up for concurrence.

Resolve authorizing the apportionment and distribution by the School funds, came from the Senate with amendments for concurrence - The House adopted the amendments and passed the Resolve to be engrossed in concurrence with the Senate.

Bill An Act to incorporate the Kennebec Lumbering Company was read a 2nd time and Monday next at 10 oclock assigned for a 3rd reading.

On motion by Mr Vose of Castine,

 Ordered, That the committee on Finance be instructed to enquire into the expediency of exempting from taxation, Spruce Head, Pond. Calf, West Black, Placentia, East Black, Long, Old Harbor, Marshall, Great Duck and Pickerings Islands.
