Order from the House of Representatives, instructing the Committee on Literature and Literary Institutions to inquire into the expediency of altering or amending the third Section of an Act passed March 11, 1834, to provide for the instruction of Youth. - read and passed in concurrence.

On motion of Mr. Jarvis, Ordered, that the Joint Standing Committee on Banks and Banking be directed to inquire into the expedience of limiting the term of maturity of notes, Bills of Exchange or any other paper, that may be discounted by Banks. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.

On motion of Mr. Swift. Ordered, that the Committee on Manufactures be requested to inquire into the expediency of so altering the laws relative to the inspection of Pot and Pearl ashes as to add another number to the quality of Pot-ash by designating the purest and best Extra number one. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.
