On Motion of Mr. Jewett of Portland Ordered that Messrs. Jewett of Portland Hastings of Robinston Tuttle of Canaan Jarvis of Ellsworth Vose of Augusta Chase of Frankfort Hyde of Bath Hammond of Elliot Bolster of Rumford and Smart of Plymouth with such as the Senate may join be a Committee to enquire into the expediency of ascertaining the number of Blind persons within this State of Thirty years of age and under and also to consider the expediency of making an appropriation for their education with leave to report by Bill or otherwise Read and passed sent up for concurrance [concurrence]

The Committee on Engrossed Bills report as duly engrossed Resolve in favour of Samuel Holden which was finally passed sent up for concurrance [concurrence]

The same Committee report as duly engrossed Bill to incorporate the Harpswell Soapstone Company - to incorporate the Trustees of Sanford Academy - to incorporate the President Directors and Company of the Bank of Bangor which were severally passed to be enacted sent up for concurrance [concurrence]

The House proceeded to the choice of a Major General of the Seventh Division of the Militia of this State Messrs. Webster of Belfast Hobart of Edmunds
