Bill additional to an Act to organize, govern and dicipline the Militia of this State - read and recommitted with instructions to report to morrow, in concurrence.

Bill in relation to petitions for Acts of incorporation for any Turnpike, Canal or Rail Road Company (reported in new Draft) Bill to incorporate the Portland Exchange Company (reported by Mr Jarvis from the Committee on Banks and Banking, on petition of Levi Cutter and others, severally read once; -"- to establish the Belfast and Quebec Rail Road Corporation was taken up and to-morrow at eleven o'clock severally assigned for a second reading.

Bill additional to regulate Banks by prohibiting the emission and circulation of Bank Bills of a small denomination was taken up and amended. Mr Benson proposed further to amend in 5th Section by striking out the words "Provided, that the person who may have so passed or the person who may have so received such note or Bill and who shall first institute a suit on prosecution against the other for the recovery of said forfeiture, shall be and is hereby exonerated from the penalties above provided" - and the question of thus striking out being ordered by yeas and nays was decided in the negative as follows, to wit, Yeas.
