Resolve authorizing a part of the Bank tax to be distributed among certain towns that have failed to make any return to the Secretary of State the present year was read the second time and a passage refused. Sent down for concurrence.

Mr. Emmons, from the Committee on the Judiciary reported leave to withdraw on petition of Henry W. Fuller - read and accepted. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.

The Committee on State Lands reported reference to next Legislature on petition of the Trustees of the town of Burlington - read and accepted, in concurrence.

Bill to incorporate the Vassalborough Academy (reported in the House by the Committee on Literature and Literary Institutions, on petition of Jacob Southwick and others), was read once and recommitted in concurrence.

Mr. Greene of York, from the Committee on the Militia to which was referred an order relative to Engine men, made a report asking to be discharged from the further consideration thereof and recommending the reference of the same to the Committee on the Judiciary - read and accepted. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.

The same Gentleman, from the same Committee, reported legislation inexpedient on an order relative to altering the militia Law so far as it relates to the age of persons doing military duty, and on an order relative to the compensation of military officers -- read and accepted.
