At a Counsil of the Captains and chiefs of the Penobscot tribe of Indians held at Indian Oldtown Dec 4th 1837. Joe Soe(?) Bason and Newell Luis were chosen Agents for said tribe in transacting the business of the tribe with the white people and in the negotiations of the tribe generally So long as they shall manage for the interests of the tribe.
