Dr Sir. I find here Chas H Noyes a Private Co (A) 14th Reg. Claims to be absent by reason of Discharge his discharge papers he says are in the hands of Maj Watson Boston Mass says his discharge is signed by Maj Gardiner Augusta. and Discharged May 6 1862 by reason of Surgeons Certificate of disability: is well and able to work. David T Warren, a Sergeant Co (A) 14th Reg. claims to be absent by reason of discharge. said Discharge is dated New Orleans June 24 1862. "by reason of Surgeons certificate of disease of throat + Lungs." signed by F.S. Nickerson Col Comdg and app[?] order of Maj Gen Butler By R G David Capt A.A.A.G. Saunders Co (B) Second Me Reg. and Horace K Haskell of Co (D) 4th Me Reg - and John S Gray of Co (4) 4th Reg. have been absent at Deer Isle the first on Furlough the last two on parole taken prisoners at the Battle of Bull Run - and paroled May 25 1862. are not Either of them at Deer Isle now [inserted] am told they have returned to Augusta within a few days - I would call your attention to Country Physcians Certificates of disability - I think many absent on Furlough or otherwise are getting discharged thereby who in fact are able to do military duty - which
