F 1st Maine Regt [t underlined] of Maine [struck out] Vol Cavalry who was Enrolled on the 28th day of October 1861 To Serve Three years is hereby Discharged from the Service of the U.S. this 9th day of April 1862 at Washington D.C. by reason of Surgeon Certificate - Said Edward P. Mitchell was born in North Yarmouth in the State of Maine is Twenty Five years of Age 5 feet 11 inches high, Florid Complexion Blue Eyes Redish Hair and by occupation when Enrolled a Farmer Given at Washington D.C. this 9th day of April 1862 D.P. Stowell Maj Comandig

The above named Edward P. Mitchell was taken sick with the Measles and Settled on his Lungs - He is now troubled with a Lame Side and not able to work much E.B. Lovejoy E. Livermore
