Fort Jefferson, Tortugas July 26th 1863 To the Governor of the State of Maine Dear Sir,. I came out in the 2nd Regt. Maine Vols. Col G Varney, and about 4 months before the expiration of the Regt. time I was Court Marshalled for a slight breach of Military Discipline and sentenced for the remainder of my term of enlistment.
