the like proceedings shall be continued by the respective branches until an election be effected or further attempts be considered unavailing. In the event of the House of Representatives failing to come to an election, on their part, after their four first ballottings, and of the Senate not coming to a choice on their part, after having taken four ballots, the Senate shall cease to ballot and notify the House thereof, whereupon the House shall assign a subsequent day for coming to a choice on their part, and similar proceedings, as before provided, shall be repeated until an election be effected.
