[Illegible P.S. note at top of letter]

Dear Sirs:

Perhaps you will not welcome this letter, but the following things are taking place every day.

A dark green coach with four husky men called at Broch's log cabin gas station today, but parked behind the station and bought no gas.

One man went into house nearby. The rest stayed in car I believe. Another car called after gas, whose driver was a woman very friendly

to Mrs. Broch. She could raise no-[?] with the horn, yet the green car sat in sight. She drove away. Shortly after the man who left the car to go into house, came out, got into dark green coach with the other men and drove up towards N. Anson and Canada. He sells Sunoco gas, but no sign in station.

Broch is an alien. Came into Maine about 1919.

Those men could have been German, en route to Canada.

3.

They have found a nest of them in Aroostook Co. so I hear. There are plenty of tourist places going north, especially around Wyman Lake, where tourists seem to live now.

Broch is peculiar. Has no steady job half the time. It would be a good thing to investigate every tourist camp in northern Maine, as well as lumber and G. Northern Paper Co. camps, and Kennebec Log Driving Camps also. They could contain a large number of German soldiers and arsenals. The Communists, hereabouts, say that there will be an uprising soon.

4.

They say before September. We are poorly prepared for a revolution. No interim defenses at all. This Communist & Nazi revolution will be soon.
