To his Excellency Hannibal Hamlin Governor of the State of Maine

The undersigned Republican voters of the town of Perry respectfully and earnestly request the appointment of Mr. George H. Welch of Perry as Agent for the Passamaquoddy tribe of Indians.

Mr. Welch, by prompt & correct business habits & integrity of character is well qualified to discharge the duties of said office and we believe his appointment would give more general satisfaction than that of any other man and thereby the State would secure the services of an honest and valuable officer.
