[page 814] the attendant who was there then, and learned from her- Mr. Baker: I would not state what you learned from these various people, sane or insane. Witness: Well, my own knowledge, as far as I could learn, that there was no investigation into the matter; I dont mean to say none at all; I mean to say a light investigation was made into the matter. I learned that there was no investigation that determined where those women were. They must have been so far away that they could not get to her until this had happened. And then I learned that she fled to her room. And this was at Dinner time when one of the attendants was at dinner. I learned that she went to her room in her clothes and remained there until the next morning after breakfast, and the attendant knew nothing about it. In her fright she had remained there. But I think it fair that I should say that since that time that woman has remained under the charge of those 2 attendants and I believe they cannot be excelled for gentleness and
