Resolve authorizing a tax on the pews & seats in the first Baptist meeting House in Bath, was read & passed to be engrossed. Sent up for concurrence.

The Report on the petition of William Norwood, granting leave to withdraw, accepted in both branches & laid on the table by virtue of an order of the House this day was on motion referred to Messrs Merrill of Gorham, Burr of Mercer & Weed of Knox.

The committee to consider the expediency of amending the act" regulating the admeasurement of boards & regulating the tale of shingles, clapboards, Hoops & Staves & for other purposes, reported a Bill - report accepted.

Bill regulating the survey & admeasurement of Lumber was read a 1st time & referred to the next Legislature.

[Bill - jail in Washington County -]

Resolve respecting the erection of a gaol in Washington County, was read a 2d time & indefinitely postponed.

[Committee to ascertain if Governor has paid any thing to adjt Genl]

On motion of Mr Pike, Ordered, that Messrs Pike, White & Prentiss be a committee to enquire if any allowance has been made to the Adjt General or acting Quarter Master General, by the Governor & Council for the past year - read & passed
