The Commission is made up of seventeen members appointed by the Governor, President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House. 1 l'he Chair and Vice Chair are appointed by the Governor. 'rhe members serve voluntarily and meetings are held monthly. n

Since '19G4, when Governor Reed appointed the first Commissi on on the Status of \../ omen, many members have served the Commission under many adversities. These members and Chairs of the Commi ssi on dese rve r ecognition for the ir dedication of time and service · t o womens rie;hts in Maine.
