James Lord & als granting an order notice - was read & accepted - sent up for concurrence.

[Report - seat of Government]

Report relating to the question of the permanent location of the seat of government, referred in this House to the next Legislature, came back from the Senate non concurred & the House assigned Thursday next at 10' oclock for the consideration of the subject.

[Report - extending powers of S.J. Court.]

The committee to consider the subject of authorizing the S.J.C. to appoint committees in certain cases to lay out Highway reported a Bill - report accepted.

[Bill - authorizing S.J.C. to lay out a alter Highways &c &c.]

Bill authorizing the Justices of the Supreme Judicial Court to lay out or later public Highways in certain cases - was read a 1st & 3d time & tomorrow at 10 oclock assigned for a 3d reading.

[Committee - lotteries -]

On motion of Mr Abbot,

Ordered, that Messrs Abbot, Clap, & Prentiss be a committee to enquire whether any & if any what alteration is necessary in an act for the precention of Lotteries not authorized by Law and to prohibit the sale or purchase of tickets in the State, with leave to report by bill or otherwise - read and accepted.

[Committee - increases of Grain -]

On motion of Mr Eveleth, Ordered, that Messrs Eveleth of Windham, Purrington of Topsham & Shaw of Thorndike be a committee to take into consideration the expediency of passing a law authorizing the Selectmen of the several towns in this State to appoint suitable persons in their respective towns, as measures of grain, imported from other states, with leave to report by bill or otherwise - read & passed.
