Calais June 19th 1858

Hon Lot M. Morrill Governor of Maine

Dear Sir Whereas certain affidavits of James Lander & others have been submitted "for your consideration, in connection with charges filed by I.[?] A. Lee & others against S. W. Smith Indian Agent, under date of March 4th 1858", & as said affidavits were taken without notice to me, & without my knowledge, I herewith enclose for your consideration the affidavits of Hugh Slater, Solomon Coy[?], Elias Pike, W. W. Pike, Chas. Sprague, Putnam [?]oy, James Lander, Samuel Curry, Patrick Welch, John McCarty, Chas. S. Davis, Isaac Kennedy, C. R. Meridden, & R. W. Smith; all relating to the matters contained in said charges, which I wish placed on the files with the other papers in the case.

If any further explanations are required, I shall be happy to make them at any time you may desire in [underlined] person [underlined].
