Portland Wednesday January 4th. 1826

The Constitution of the State having designated this day for the meeting of the Legislature thereof, the following Gentlemen being duly returned as Senators appeared in the Senate Chamber viz.

who were called to order, at eleven oclock in the forenoon by Mr. Green from Lincoln, when or motion Mr. Dunlap was requested to inform the Governor and Council, that a majority of the Members elect of the Senate were present and ready to be qualified: And the Governor was pleased to say "that he would attend the members elect of the two Houses of the Legislature in the Representatives Chamber for the purpose of administering the oaths, or affirmations required by
