request and by advice of friends transfered [transferred] to the Band[?] which I was formally member of I am now nearly as strong as ever and am determined to stay in my [?] cervice [service] during the War, and wish to be in more active cervice [service] than in the Band, I feel out of place and wish for an appointment in one of the new Regiments, as the vacancies ar [are] all filled in the 3d, I have made myself well acquainted[?] with millitary [military] matters and should be willing to be examined by any United States Officer, and shal [shall] do my duty let it be what it may. Hoping to heare [hear] from you faivourably [favorably] and thankful for past faivours [favors]
