49 Saturday January 13th 1827. Met according to adjournment. The Committee on engrossed bills reported as duly engrossed Bill "in addition to an act to incorporate the Kennebec Steam Navigation Company which was passed t one enacted. Sent up for concurrence

Ordered that the Senate be requested to take from their last years files and sent to this House the petition of Benjamin Prescott & others together with the accompanying papers. read & passed.

The committee on contested elections, reported that William Vance returned as a member from the district composed of Baring, Perry & & appears to have been duly elected and is entitled to hold a seat in this House - and the report was accepted.

Bill regulating the sale of Lottery Tickets, reported by the committee of this House upon that subject, was read a 1st & 2d time and Wednesday next at 10 oclock assigned fora. 3d reading.

The Committee on contested elections reported in the case of Joshua Carpenter, the member returned from the district composed of Sebec, Williamsburg, Passadunkeag & and Tuesday next at 10 oclock was assigned to consider the same.

The Report made by the Commissioners appointed by the Governor & Council to examine into & report the State of the several Banks within this State, came from the Senate referred to the Committee on banks & Banking for concurrence and the House concurred.

Ordered that the Committee on the Judiciary be instructed to take into consideration the expediency of providing by law, that in all actions of Assumpskit within the jurisdiction of a Justice of the Peace, were there are two or more defendants, and the Plaintiff and one
