I have in mind a plan which is logical and pleasant to me to think of,and I disclose it io you,but with the strictest confidence as one never knows how things 1mn or will work out,and the plan is,to oresent a number of my Maine paintings to the state Librar7,of Maine tobe placed on permanent vi~• there1 and for my personal; pleasure,! should· want them to be placed·where tney could be ·see~ia~l times, not necessarily tog.wther in a separate room;thobgtr'· · would be nice, but probably not feas#able for official conven cet--but there is no other place in Maine that I should mmt them, and I feel veey earnestly about the idea, and I would no doubt give one picture to the Lewiston Public Library ,and one or two,!f they would have them,at the Cormn Library of Bates College, though I am not a college man. But this is a preliminacy whisper only on the subject, and if you think you could feel out the matter with the Libraria,n herself, then you could tell me whatever the results are,as to the idea. I am of course very- proud of being bQrninJlaine,a.nd have its interests at heart alwats,a.nd because of the.t,eonsider myself twice lunerican,as I am by reason Gf birth~ ci~en,.o!..-'tlla~Stl.~. Personally I think it is a fine idea,a}ld I would feel happy to know that a group of my Maine pictures reposed permanently in the State of Maine headquarters. Now,You can I think help me a little--! regret to say I do not know
