Mr Prescott, from the Committee on Claims reported leave to withdraw on petition of inhabitants of Vinalhaven, Thomas C Jones and Elisha Hilton; and legislation inexpedient on an order relative to the claim of the town of Castine against the State for support against the State for support of William James a pauper and foreigner read and accepted. A Message was received from the Governor informing both Branches of the Legislature that a vacancy now exists in the office of Major General of the second Division of that Militia of this State, occasioned by the resignation of Major General, Alfred Marshall - read and sent down.
