In Convention.

Agreeably to assignment the two Houses of the Legislature met in Convention for the purpose of qualifying Counsellors elect, and also of electing a Treasurer of State. Mr. Benson of the Senate was charged with a message informing John Burnham and Timothy Pilsbury that the two Houses of the Legislature have met in Convention and are ready to administer to them the necessary oaths to qualify them to enter upon the discharge of their official duties.

Whereupon John Burnham and Timothy Pilsbury came in, and before the President of the Convention and in presence of both branches of the Legislature, took and subscribed the oaths required by the Constitution to qualify them to enter upon the discharge of their official duties.

Messrs McIntire and Johnson of the Senate, and Messrs Chadbourne, Holmes of Winthrop and Whitney of the House were appointed a Committee to receive, sort and count the votes for Treasurer of State; which Committee having attended the duties assigned them, reported that the whole number of votes given in is 193. Necessary to a choice 97. Asa Redington Jr. has 186. F. O. J. Smith " 1. Major Jack Downing " 1. and there were 5 Blanks. Asa Redington Jr. was declared duly elected Treasurer of State for the current political year and the Convention separated.
