On motion by Mr. Scammon of Pittston,, Ordered, That the committee on the Judiciary be instructed to inquire into the expediency of repealing the first section of an Act entitled, an additional act for regulating ferries, passed March sixth one thousand and eight hundred and thirty. Sent up for concurrence.
Bill - An Act authorizing the Selectmen, Clerk, and Treasurer of the town of Lovell to transfer certain funds in their trust, to the Trustees of the School fund in said town, was read once and tomorrow at 10 o'clock assigned for a second reading.
Resolve authorizing a part of the School fund to be distributed among certain and plantations, came from the Senate referred to Messrs Purrinton, O'Brien & Fish with such as the House may join - and the House joined Messrs. Brooks of York, Wasson of Brooksville, Smart of Troy, Coolidge of Solon, and Vickery of Baring.
Report of the committee on the order instructing them to inquire into the expediency of making some legislative enactments in relation to the importation of foreign paupers, that legislation is inexpedient, was read and accepted. Sent up for concurrence.
The committee to whom was referred the petition of William Woodman & others, reported leave to withdraw - and the report was accepted.
