140.

Tuesday, February 2, 1836. The Order from the House of Representatives of yesterday relative to Lieut. Col. Long's Report of a Reconnoissance for a Rail Road from Quebec to the Atlantic came up -the House insisting upon their vote passing said order.

 The Senate insist upon their vote of yesterday refusing said order a passage; and propose a Conference, and appoint as Conferees, on their part Messrs Benson, Jarvis and Clark. Sent down for concurrence,

Concurred and Messrs Potter of Augusta, Lane of Hollis, and Smith of Westbrook are joined.

Order from the House of Representatives, appointing a Joint Select Committee, consisting on the part of the House of Messrs Leppincott, Mildram, O'Brien, Sproul and Hamlin with such as the Senate may join to take into consideration the necessity of providing by law; for getting from the Adjutant General's Office, in Massachusetts, a copy of the records of the metes and bounds of Militia Companies in this State previous to 1821, and deposite the same in the Adjutant General's Office in this State, -and further ordered, that every Company so organized, be furnished with a copy at the expense of the State. Read and passed and Messrs Frye, Staples and Greene are joined in concurrence,
