Order from the House of Representatives, instructing the Committee on the Judiciary to inquire into the expediency of passing an additional Act to the law regulating the sale and measurement of wood and bark, so as to impose a penalty on measurers of wood and bark, who shall refuse a neglect to give a certificate of said measurement or to comply with any part of the law regulating the same - read and passed in concurrence.

Order from the House of Representatives, relative to fixing by law the period for the execution of criminals, condemned to death, (laid on the table 11th of Jan. last) was taken up and referred to the Committee on the Judiciary in concurrence.

Petition of Frances Brainard and others, females, praying that a tract of land maybe set off from Hallowell to Winthrop - read and referred to the Committee on Division of Towns. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.

Petition of Timothy Boutelle and others, praying that the Village of Waterville may be incorporated for the purpose of organizing a more efficient fire department - read and referred to the Committee on the Judiciary, in concurrence.
