Monday, February 1, 1836.

Order from the House of Representatives, requesting the Secretary of State to be printed for the use of the Legislature -read and passed in concurrence.

On motion of Mr Swift, Ordered, that the Joint Standing Committee on Manufactures be requested to inquire into the expediency of so altering the Law relative to the inspection of Pot and Pearl -ashes as to add another sort to the quality of Pearl ash by designating the purest and best First sort extra; also as to the Inspector's fees so as to make the law Cents per neat hundred instead of gross. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.

Order from the House of Representatives, that seven copies of Lieut. Col. Long's Report of a Reconnoisance for a Rail Road from Quebec to the Atlantic waters, be distributed to each officer and member of the Treasurer and Secretary of State, Adjutant General and Land Agent and that the balance of the copies ordered to be placed in the office of the Secretary of State to be distributed in such manner as the Governor and Council shall from time to time direct -read and the Senate nonconcur the House in the passage of the same, Sent down.
