and Oldtown Rail Road, severally read, and the same, on motion of Mr. Fish were ordered to lie on the table.

On motion of Mr. Jewett, Ordered that the Joint Standing Com- mittee on Banks and Banking be directed to inquire what additional pro- visions are necessary to regulate Banks and Banking; also to inquire into the ex- pediencey of prohibiting the circulation of the notes and checks of the United States Bank incorporated by the Legislature of the State of Pensylvania and approved Feb. 18, 1836, with leave to report by Bill or otherwise.

Mr. Johnson from the Joint Select Committee to which is referred the petition of Eleazar Colburn and others, reported that said petitioners have leave to withdraw their petition -- read and accepted. Sent down for concurrence.

Mr. Jewett from the Commitee on Incorporation of Towns reported reference to next Legislature on petition of Nathan Philips and others -- read and accepted.
