Mr. Talbot, from the Committee on Roads and Bridges, reported reference to the Committee on State Roads on petition of James S. Holmes and others, and notice to next Legislature on petition of Josiah Parlin and others - read and accepted. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.

Mr. Merrow, from the Committee on Division of Towns, reported notice to next Legislature on petition of Nehemiah Hanson and Ashley J. Paine and others - read and accepted, Sent down for concurrence. Concurrence.

Bill to abolish imprisonment for Debt, on motion of Mr. Talbot, was taken up and amended. Mr. Benson moved further to amend by adding the following provisc at the end of the 3 Sec. to wit: "Provided, however, that this Act shall not be construed so as to deprive any person of any night acquired by virtue of or under, the law existing at the time when this act shall take effect, nor to effect any judgment or contract already in force, on which may exist or be in force, at the time last afoersaid" - and the question of adopting said amendment being ordered to be taken by yeas and nays, was decided in the negative, as following, to wit; Yeas. Messrs Benson, Clark, Greene, McIntire Merrow, Robinson, Severance, Staples, and Weeks 9. Nays. Messrs. Allen, Fisj, Frye, Jarvis, Jewett, Kelsey, Latham, Miller, Pierce, Spear, Strickland Swift and Talbot ____________ 13.

  Mr Benson moved to refer said Bill to the Committee on the Judiciary; and the question of so referring, being ordered to be taken by yeas and nays, was decided in the negative as follows, to wit;
