State of Maine AD 1867.

To the Hon Governor & Council.

In the matter of appointing an Agent for the Passamaquoddy tribe of Indians.

We, members of the Legislature from Washington County, having had an opportunity to learn of all the Candidates, and having consulted with the Representative of said tribe, as to the choice of the Indians, and seeing the necessity, that the Agent should be centrally located, and believing that David Gordon of Calais is "Honest & Capable," respectfully request that said Gordon may be appointed Agent of said tribe.
