Petition of Zaccheus Porter and others praying that Belfast may be made a half-shire town

Read and committed to Mr Moody of Wells, Mr Batchelder of Union, and Mr Stone of Brunswick, with such as the Senate may join to consider & report.

[Clerk to cause Constitution & Act of Separation &c to be printed.]

On motion of Mr Hobbs of Waterboro',

Ordered, That the Clerk, cause to be printed forthwith two hundred copies of the Constitution of this State, together with that of the United States, and "An act relating to the Separation of the District of Maine from Massachusetts Proper, and forming the same into a separate and Independent State." For the use of the Legislature

[Senatorial votes, vacancies, &c]

Mr Foxcroft of the Senate came in, and reported the state of the votes given in for Senators in the several towns and plantations in this State, and the vacancies which exist at the Senate Board, and who are the Constitutional candidates to fill the same by which it appeared that in the County of York the whole number of votes were 10,357

Necessary to make a choice 1,727

William Moody Esq had 2,714

Josiah W Seaver Esq [ditto mark] 2,009 John M Donald Esq [ditto mark] 1983 and they were chosen.

In the County of Cumberland The whole number of votes were 11,630 Necessary to make a choice 1,939 ["over"]
