Capt Towle with the same instructions as for letter F[?] started this day to Explore the Public lands near the St Croix
and made oath to the faithful performance of said duty to wit
I, Elisha Towle do solemnly swear that I will faithfully examine the townships belonging to the State of Maine above the St Croix as many as may be this season and that I will impartially and truly measure all timber cut therefrom according to the rules and [?] of measuring timber in other parts of this State and make a true report of the same. so help me God
