Duties--prepare the ground, provide materials, and cause the buildings to be erected for the accommodation of the Executive, Legislative, and public offices at the seat of government.

Duties--exercise responsibilities for public buildings, furniture and other property; preserve and keep them in proper condition.

Additional information--appointed by Governor with advice and consent of the Council, 1833-1953. Appointed by Commissioner of Finance and Administration with approval of the Governor, 1953-1957.
