Naturally occurring microbiota in mosquito larval habitats are among biotic factors which affect the population dynamics of developing larvae. Many microbiota species serve as food items for vector mosquito larvae, and food limitations within habitats adversely affect larval survival, developmental rate, adult fitness, and thereby vector competence. Therefore, identification of microbiota as associates with larvae reveals their relationship between each other as parasites, pathogens, epibionts, or diet organisms. Analysis of associated microbiota species in the dengue vector larval breeding habitats (n = 40) and the mosquito larval gut content were conducted in Kandy District in Sri Lanka. Study revealed that a total of 22 microbiota species belong to nine phyla (Amoebozoa, Bacillariophyta, Ciliophora, Chlorophyta, Sarcodina, Cyanobacteria/Cyanophyta, Euglenozoa, Ochrophyta/Heterokontophyta, and Rotifera) were encountered from different Ae. aegypti mosquito breeding habitats while 26 microbiota species that bi and Ae. albopictus (Chi - square = 21.294, P = 0.002). Identification of microbiota as food items of vector mosquito larvae led to a focus on larval food limitation by introducing food competitors, which could be a potential additional tool for integrated vector control approaches within the country.

To mine miR expression in glioma based on the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database and to explore its effects on biological functions.

Differentially expressed miRs in glioma-related chips were found out based on the GEO database. Fifty patients with glioma treated in our hospital from February 2012 to July 2013 (observation group, OG) and a further 50 healthy people undergoing physical examinations (control group, CG) were enrolled. miR-873-5p expression in serum and in U87, T98G, U251, LN-229, and HEK-293T cells was tested by qRT-PCR. T98G and U251 cells were transfected with miR-873-5p-mimics and miR-NC sequences. The expression in the two cells was also tested by qRT-PCR. Nirogacestat The proliferation, invasion, and apoptosis of the transfected cells were, respectively, tested by MTT assay, Transwell, and flow cytometry. The patients were followed up for 5 years to observe their survival.

miR-873-5p expression in OG was remarkably higher than that in CG (

< 0.001). miR-873-5p was closely correlated with expected to become a potential diagnostic index and therapeutic target for glioma.

miR-873-5p can inhibit glioma cells to proliferate and invade, and promote their apoptosis, so it is expected to become a potential diagnostic index and therapeutic target for glioma.

Previous studies have investigated the association between the use of bisphosphonates and the development of breast cancer, which presented controversial results. Thus, this meta-analysis was conducted to summarize the current evidence of the association of bisphosphonate use with breast cancer risk.

A comprehensive search was conducted in PubMed, ISI Web of Knowledge, the Cochrane Library, and Embase from inception to March 2019 by two researches, who independently selected trials, retrieved relevant data, and assessed study quality. The summary relative risk (RR) for the use of bisphosphonates on the risks of developing breast cancer was calculated using a random-effect model.

The present meta-analysis, which included four case-control studies, involving 55052 breast cancer cases, and seven retrospective cohort studies, involving 14641 breast cancer cases, assessed the effect of bisphosphonates on breast cancer risk. The random-effect model meta-analysis found a reduced risk of breast cancer with expoeeded to verify this association. This trial is registered with PROSPERO (registration number CRD42018105024) (registered on 29 August 2018).

1 year) of bisphosphonates was more significant in lowering breast cancer risk. Further randomized controlled trials are needed to verify this association. This trial is registered with PROSPERO (registration number CRD42018105024) (registered on 29 August 2018).Abnormally expressed long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been reported to affect the occurrence and progression of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) by modulating the autophagy axis. However, none of studies has explored the clinical significance of these autophagy-related lncRNAs in HCC comprehensively. In this study, the RNA-seq, miRNA-seq, and clinical data of normal and HCC patients from the TCGA database and autophagy genes from the Human Autophagy Database were extracted. Subsequently, we screened out 78 differentially expressed autophagy-related lncRNAs, and four prognostic-related lncRNAs (LUCAT1, AC099850.3, ZFPM2-AS1, and AC009005.1) were eventually used to develop the prognostic model. This signature could be regarded as an independent prognostic signature for HCC patients and has the highest prediction efficiency than other clinicopathological factors for the 1-, 3-, and 5-year survival (AUC = 0.764, 0.738, and 0.717, respectively). Additionally, regardless of whether the clinical information is complete for HCC patients, the autophagy-related lncRNA model shows a good predictive power for the overall survival. Importantly, the coexpression network of 4 lncRNAs and 11 autophagy-related genes was constructed. Moreover, based on the bioinformatic analyses, our results found that LUCAT1 and ZFPM2-AS1 may affect the autophagic activity in HCC through the hsa-miR-495-3p/DLC1 and hsa-miR-515-5p/DAPK2 axis, respectively. In conclusion, we establish an effective prognostic model for HCC patients and shed new light on the autophagy-related regulatory mechanisms of the identified lncRNAs.The most frequent mononeuropathy in the lower extremity has been reported as the common peroneal nerve entrapment neuropathy (CPNe) around the head and neck of the fibula, although the mechanism of the neuropathy in this area cannot be fully explained. Therefore, the aim of this cadaveric study was to evaluate the relationship between morphologic variations of the distal biceps femoris muscle (BFM) and the course of the common peroneal nerve (CPN) and to investigate the incidence and morphological characteristics of anatomical variations in the BFM associated with CPNe. The popliteal region and the thigh were dissected in 115 formalin-fixed lower limbs. We evaluated consensus for (1) normal anatomy of the distal BFM, (2) anatomic variations of this muscle, and (3) the relationship of the muscle to the CPN. Measurements of the distal extents of the short and long heads of the BFM from insertion (fibular head) were performed. Two anatomic patterns were seen. First, in 93 knees (80.8%), the CPN ran obliquely along the lateral side of the BFM and then superficial to the lateral head of the gastrocnemius muscle.
