The aim of this study was to determine the best thickness of corneal slices acquired from femtosecond laser surgery-small incision lenticule extraction (SMILE surgery) as patch graft in glaucoma drainage implantation surgery.

This study is a prospective randomized study. Patients who received glaucoma drainage implantation from September 2016 to November 2018 were observed. The patients were randomly divided into 3 groups. Group A included 102 cases (104 eyes), receiving 1 layer (120-150 μm) of allogeneic lamellar corneal tissue as the graft. Group B included 117 cases (120 eyes), receiving 2 layers of lamellar corneal tissue from one donor. Group C included 109 cases (111 eyes), using 3 layers of lamellar corneal tissue from 2 donors. The intraocular pressure, corneal graft, conjunctiva stromalysis, drainage tube exposure, and drainage plate were observed.

Patients were followed up for 6 to 33 months. The intraocular pressure was significantly reduced after surgery in all three groups. Conjunctiva stromalysis and drainage tubes were exposed in 3 eyes (3%) in group A and 1 eye (0.8%, a special case which has nystagmus and the plate was placed infratemporally) in group B, whereas no conjunctiva stromalysis or tube exposure was reported in group C.

The corneal graft acquired from SMILE surgery can effectively prevent drainage tube exposure and give patients a better cosmetic appearance. Two layers of lamellar corneal tissue (240-300 μm) may be the best suitable thickness because it can effectively reduce tube exposure and rejection. In some special cases, 3 layers of lamellar corneal tissue are needed.

Neuroblastoma is an embryonal tumor of the autonomic nervous system with poor prognosis in children. In present study, we demonstrated the relationship of miRNA-34a-5p in the regulating of the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway by targeting SRY-related HMG-box (SOX4)Reverse transcription-quantitative PCR was used to detect the expression levels of miRNA-34a-5p and SoX4. Western blotting was performed to assess the protein expression levels of SoX4, Wnt, MMP9, Bax, and Bcl-2. The proliferation, apoptosis, migration and invasion of neuroblastoma cells were determined using MTT, flow cytometry and Transwell assays. In this study, we sought to investigate the role of miRNA-34a-5p on neuroblastoma and the possible molecular mechanism. We had performed in-vitro and in-vivo experiments to evaluate the effects of miRNA-34a-5p on neuroblastoma cell proliferation and invasion by altering its expression level via cell transfection. On the basis of our study, miRNA-34a-5p showed decreased expression levels in neuroblastomaproliferation, invasion of neuroblastoma cells.

To evaluate the value of interleukin (IL)-27 measured in serum and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) for the diagnosis of smear-negative pulmonary tuberculosis (TB).

This was a prospective study of patients planned to undergo bronchoscopy at Wuxi No.5 People's Hospital between January 2017 and September 2018. The patients were grouped as the TB and control groups. BALF and serum IL-27 were measured by ELISA. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were used to assess the diagnostic value and calculate the optimal cutoff values.

There were 40 patients in the control group and 87 in the TB group. In the TB group, 20 had positive sputum smear results and 67 were negative. The area under the ROC curve (AUC) of BALF IL-27 for pulmonary TB was 0.897 (95% CI 0.830-0.944) (P < .001). The AUC of serum IL-27 for pulmonary TB was 0.703 (95% CI 0.616-0.781) (P < .001). In patients with negative sputum smear results, the AUCs of BALF IL-27 and serum IL-27 for pulmonary TB was 0.882 (95% confidence interval [CI] 0.805-0.936) (P < .001) and 0.679 (95% CI 0.601-0.782) (P < .001), respectively.

BALF IL-27 can be used for the diagnosis of pulmonary TB, particularly in those with a negative sputum smear result. Serum IL-27 could be an auxiliary method for TB screening.

Although venous duplex ultrasonography (USG) is reliable for diagnosing lower extremity venous disease (LEVD), cross-sectional imaging studies were usually required before intervention or surgery. Patients of LEVD with renal insufficiency usually restrict the use of contrast-enhanced imaging modalities. In seeking an alternative imaging solution for these patients, we explore the clinical utility of triggered angiography non-contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (TRANCE-MRI) in the assessment of LEVD.We collected data from patients presenting to a tertiary wound-care center with symptoms of LEVD from April 2017-November 2019. Each participant underwent baseline USG followed by TRANCE-MRI on a 1.5T MR scanner (Philips Ingenia, Philips Healthcare, Best, The Netherlands). Inter-rater reliability was measured using Cohen's kappa (κ).All 80 participants (mean age, 61.9 ± 14.8 years; 35 males, 45 females) were assessed and were classified into one of five disease groups, deep vein thrombosis (n = 38), veno the limb's entire venous drainage in clear images without background contamination by associated arterial imaging. Additionally, simultaneous evaluation of bilateral lower extremities can help determine the lesion's exact site. Although TRANCE-MRI can provide MR arteriography and MR venography, we recommend performing only MR venography in symptomatic LEVD patients because the incidence of occult arterial disease is low.

The aim of the study was to assess the potential role of preoperative gadolinium ethoxybenzyl diethylenetriamine pentaacetic acid (Gd-EOB-DTPA) dynamic enhanced MR imaging for diagnosing microvascular invasion (MVI) and pathological grade of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).A total of 113 consecutive HCC patients confirmed by histopathology underwent preoperative Gd-EOB-DTPA dynamic enhanced MRI were included. selleck chemicals Signal intensity (SI) of peritumoral, normal liver tissue and tumor parenchyma during arterial phase and hepatobiliary phase (HBP) were analyzed. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were performed to assess the potential diagnostic capability for MVI and pathological grade of HCC. Kaplan-Meier method was performed to estimate the recurrence-free survival rate and compared using the log rank test.SI ratio of peritumoral tissue to normal liver in arterial phase (SIAp/Al) was independently associated with MVI [odds ratio (OR) = 3.115, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.867-5.198] and pathological grades (OR = 1.
