Double-blind placebo-controlled intervention using glutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD)-alum, vitamin D and Ibuprofen in recent onset Type I diabetes (T1D).

Treatment was safe and tolerable. No C-peptide preservation was observed. We observed a linear correlation of baseline C-peptide, HbA1c and insulin/per kilogram/24h with change in C-peptide AUC at 15months (r=-0.776, p<0.0001).

In recent years, novel radiation therapy techniques have moved clinical practice toward tailored medicine. An essential role is played by the decision support system, which requires a standardization of data collection. The Aim of the Prediction Models In Stereotactic External radiotherapy (PRE.M.I.S.E.) project is the implementation of systems that analyze heterogeneous datasets. This article presents the project design, focusing on brain stereotactic radiotherapy (SRT).
First, raw ontology was defined by exploiting semiformal languages (block and entity relationship diagrams) and the natural language; then, it was transposed in a Case Report Form, creating a storage system.
More than 130 brain SRT's variables were selected. The dedicated software Beyond Ontology Awareness (BOA-Web) was set and data collection is ongoing.

We sought to determine the safety profile of a therapeutic candidate composed of the released molecules from a combination of human adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells and fibroblasts. Although stem cells, their progenitor cells and the molecules that are released from these cells have some demonstrated therapeutic value, much more needs to learn about the efficacy, mechanism of action and the safety profiles of these stem cell-based therapeutics.

Clinically, GP poses diagnostic challenges as it may strongly mimic prostate cancer from a clinical, biochemical and radiological point of view. The occurrence of GP in patients suffering from psoriasis, a systemic autoimmune disease, has never been investigated. We describe the case of GP in a patient with psoriatic arthritis presenting with an increased prostate specific antigen level, and evidence of a nodular lesion visualized by prostate multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging, which was highly suspicious for aggressive prostate cancer.IL-27 is a pleiotropic cytokine capable of influencing both innate and adaptive immune responses. With anti- and pro-inflammatory activity, IL-27 exerts its opposing effects in a cell-dependent and infectious context-specific manner. Upon pathogenic stimuli, IL-27 regulates innate immune cells, such as monocytes, dendritic cells, macrophages and neutrophils. Immune responses involving these innate cells that are negatively regulated by IL-27 signaling include inflammatory cytokine production, phagolysosomal acidification following phagocytosis, oxidative burst and autophagy. IL-27 signaling is crucial in maintaining the subtle balance between Th1 and Th2 immunity, in which protective inflammation is upregulated within the early stages of infection and subsequently downregulated once microbial growth is controlled. The immunomodulatory effects of IL-27 provide promising therapeutic targets for multiple disease types.
