The convention was called to order by Isaac Adams Esq of Portland who was requested to officiate as Chairman during the organization.

Messrs Williams, McIntere, Joseph Adams of Portland, Spaulding & Eveleth were appointed a Committee to receive the credentials of the members and ascertain if a quorum be present - who after attending to the duty assigned them reported that a quorum was present.

[notice to Senators to come & be qualified]

Mr Green of South Berwick was requested to notify the members of the Senate that a quorum of the House of Representatives was then assembled and to invite the attendance of that branch forthwith at the Representatives chamber in order that both branches might there be qualified.
