Ordered that the Senate to requested to take from their files of last year the petition of Smith Baker & others and send down to this House - read & passed.

Ordered that the Senate be requested to take from their files & send down to this House the petition of David Winslow & als - read & passed.

[Counsellor - accepted]

A communication was received from Joseph Lock signifying his acceptance as Counsellor for the ensuing political year.

[Convention proposed to qualify Counsellors - ]

Message from the Senate by Mr Smith their Secretary. Mr Speaker The Senate propose a convention of both branches at 12 oclock today to qualify Joseph Lock Esq Counsellor elect. The House concurred & the Clerk was requested to acquaint the Senate therewith.

[Expenses of printing]

The Secretary of State in obedience to the order of 17 inst. laid upon the Speakers table, the accounts against the State for printing for the last political year, which were on motion referred to the committee on accounts.

[Committee - to revise law respecting Poor Debtors &c]

Ordered that Messrs Cummings, Merrill of Gorham & Patten be a committee with such as the Senate may join, to consider the expediency of repealing so much of a law passed during the session of 1822 allowing poor debtors to swear out of jail on giving fifteen days notice to the creditor, as can be construed to have operation on contracts existing before its passage. Sent up for concurrence.
