[Committee - time for Academies to procure their funds &c]

Ordered that the committee on so much of the Governors Message as relates to Literature be instructed to consider the expediency of extending the time allowed to Academies to procure the funds required by the existing laws - read & passed.

Bill to incorporate the Winthrop Bank - was read 1st time & tuesday next at 10 oclock assigned for a 2d reading.

[Bill - law of the road]

Bill establishing the law of the road - was read a 3d time & passed in a new draft to be engrossed. Sent up for concurrence.

[Bill - Dover & Elliot Bridge]

Bill to incorporate of Dover & Elliot Bridge - was read a 3d time &passed to be engrossed as amended. Sent up for concurrence.

[Bill - Canton to Jay -]

Bill to set off part of the town Canton & annex the same to the town of Jay. was read a 3d time & passed to be engrossed. Sent up for concurrence

[Committee - buying votes]

An order came from the Senate for concurrence directing the committee on New Trials to consider what amendments if any be necessary in the Law prohibiting Officers of Courts from buying promissory notes & others demands for the purpose of making again or profit in their collection thereof - and the House concurred.

Petition of Nathan Cummings & als to be incorporated as the Portland Rifle Corps referred in this House January 28th to the committee on the incorporation of Parishes &c &c came back nonconcurred & referred to the committee on military affairs for concurrence and the House concurred.

Report on petition of James Paul & others, came from the Senate referred to the committee on Turnpikes, Bridges & Canals for concurrence & the House concurred.
