I have no doubt a very large majority of both officers and soldiers would quite as[?] [?] have me remain or[?] that he should return or Doct. or[?] Doct. Allen either [?] to that, I am however ready & perfectly willing to return home if Dr A. can return here

I am a little anxious to know whether there is a probability that Dr A will return, or[?] if I am to remain but a few weeks at [?], I do not wish to [?] the expense of purchasing a horse [?] and various other articles which would be of very little value to me if I should leave here. The Regt. has just had a new uniform[?]. Have been paid off and are in the [?] in very good condition. Though a few are yet here who ought to be discharged. All Dr. McR’s efforts in this direction[?] availed[?] very little, as he did not learn how ot accomplish, what he desired for the good of the Regt. – gaining[?]
