The Main Regts here are doing well – I have watched the progress of those there who were transferred from the 4th and I assure you they[?] who[?] do [?] to the State, Col Ward of the 38 [?] [?] informs[?] me[?] that they are the best men in his Regt. & I consider his [?] [?] a recommendation

We are gradually pushing forward our encampment toward Falls Church – we now occupy the exterior[?] left flank outpost
