A communication was received from Joel Whitney Esquire Counsellor elect, signifying his acceptance.

The committee on engrossed Bills reported as duly engrossed - Bill establishing the salaries of the Judge & Register of Probate for the County of Waldo - which was passed to be enacted. Sent up for concurrence.

On motion of Mr Adams of Portland, Ordered that the committee on Banks & Banking be instructed to consider and report what further measures, if any, this Legislature ought to take in relation to the Vassalboro' Bank, and also to consider the expediency of restraining by law Banks from transacting the ordinary business of the Bank at any place other than that at which the bank is eastablished - read & passed. Sent up for concurrence.

A message was received from the Senate by Mr Hutchinson their Secretary, proposing a convention of the two Houses of the Legislature forthwith in the Representatives Chamber for the purpose of qualifying Joel Whitney Esquire Counsellor elect - and the House concurred & the Clerk was requested to acquaint the Senate therewith.

Accordingly the two branches met in convention when Joel Whitney Esquire Counsellor elect came in, & took and subscribed the oaths required by the Constitution to qualify him to enter upon the discharge of the duties of his office.
